Trinidad Tobago Beaches and Points of InterestThe beaches can be grouped into the North West Peninsula, north Coast, North East Coast and south West Coast. Each area has a certain qualities and features. The North West Peninsula beaches are close to the capital. There are plenty of resorts in this well developed area of the islanded. Popular beaches include Bombshell beach, Chacachacare, Chagacabana, Chagville Beach, Macqueripe, Scotland Bay, Williams Bay Popular beaches in the North coast are accessible through the northern mountain ranges and the Maracas Valley. There are fewer resorts and fewer tourists in this region of Trinidad. Popular beaches in this area are Blanchisseuse, Las Cuevas, Maracas Bay, Paria Beach and Waterfall, Tyrico. North East Coast beaches face the open Atlantic Ocean and have much stronger surf and currents. The rough waters and currents occur from November to April. During the other months, the oceans is much more calm and suitable for swimming and snorkeling. The coast from Saline Bay to Toco is frequently rocky; from Toco to Grande Rivière is more easily accessible. Popular beaches in this area include Balandra, Grande Riviere, Manzanilla, Matura, Mayaro, Saline Bay, Salybia and Sans Souci Bay. The South West Coast are calm most of the year and ideal for sun bathing and swimming. The runoff from the nearby rivers can sometimes make the water less clear. Popular beaches in this area include Cedros, Guapo Beach, Granville, Quinam Beach and Vessigny. Beaches in Tobago include white sandy beaches with crystal clear waters. There are several resorts on this island located right on the beach. Popular beaches in this area include Castara Beach, Englishman’s Bay, King’s Bay, Man o War Bay, Mount Irvine, Pigeon Point, Speyside Beach, Store Bay and Turtle Beach. |
