Scuba Diving – Scuba diving is the most popular activity for tourist. The tourquise beaches provide clear water with excellent visibility. Most of the hotels have dive shops where the tourist can charter boats and rent dive equipment. Most of the reefs are offshore and require a boat to reach.

Water Sports – Snorkeling and swimming are also very popular activities. The water is usually calm, warm and great for families. The normal para-sailing, kayaking and windsurfing are also available for the tourist to enjoy. Many of the hotels offer beach cabanas that can be rented for the entire day.

Cenotes Swimming ( freshwater sinkholes ) – This is one of the more specialized activities available to the tourists. Cenotes are freshwater sinkholes that are usually several hundred feet and can be several hundred feet wide. There are many of the sinkholes all over the Yucatan Peninsula. The limestone formations also offer great cave exploring and spelunking.

Archeological Sites and Ruins – A very popular attraction for tourist are the archeological sites located at Xcaret. This location is just a few miles from town and easily accessible by taxi or bus. The Mayan ruins provide the tourist with an in depth view into the Mayan civilization the once prevalent in these parts as late as the fifteen hundreds.

Eco Park – Xel ha is an eco park where tourists and locals can swim with dolphins, pet sea turtles and explore the wonders of the ocean in a protected and safe environment. It is more of an aquarium that people can explore and swim in.

Cozumel – A great day trip for the tourist is to visit Cozumel. The ferries depart about avery 10-20 minutes and cost about $10 US.
