La Paz Beaches and AttractionsThere are many nice small beaches in La Paz. The majority of these beaches are located just outside of the many hotels that boarder the ocean. The beaches are not very crowded compared to the more popular resorts like Cabo San Lucas or Acapulco. The beaches in this resort town tend to be a little smaller, again, usually in the front of hte hotels. There are several large, sandy white beaches a few minutes out of town that have very few people. These beaches are perfect for beach combing, swimming and relaxing. La Paz, Mexico beaches are usually calm and do not get the larger waves as its neighbor, Cabo San Lucas, to the south. The reason is that the swells from the pacific do not reach La Paz as it faces the Sea of Cortez and is sheltered from the swells by the peninsula. The ocean can get rough from time to time. The wind and seas can change very quickly and many boaters and kayakers have been forced to take shelter as a fast moving thunderstorm passes by. The ocean however is usually calm and perfect for sailing, boating, kayaking and swimming. |
