Grenada Airport and TransportationThe Grenada Airport (Point Salines International Airport GND ) is located on the main island on the extreme southwest corner of the island. It is approximately 4 miles from the capital St. Georges. Several large airlines have regular scheduled flights. Other airlines have connecting flights from neighboring islands, mainly Barbados. Taxis are a good alternative to a car rental as well as the bus system. The taxis are independently owned and operated but licensed by the coverment. The bus system is good and reliable. The drivers are friendly and willing to help tourists find their way. The rates are very reasonable. Grenada Travel TipsVoltage is 220 – most appliances will work with a transformer. Some hotels offer dual 110/220 volts in hotel rooms. Check with your hotel before you go.English is the official language but other mixes of French-African languages can be heard. Most hotels and services include a service charge. Additional gratuity is at your discretion. Conservation – it is illegal to take any plants and animals from the island. Please look but do not remove. Entry and Exit – a US or EU passport is required to enter and exit the country. Currency – the official currency is the Eastern Caribbean dollar. US dollars are widely accepted. Exchange money at the bank as the exchange rate is more favorable. Drive on the left side of the road.
