Dominican Republic Beaches and Points of Interest

The beaches of the Dominican Republic can be divided into 5 regions. Each region offers a unique set of beaches, attractions and charms.

East Coast – Popular beaches in this region include: Isla Catalina Isla Saona, Playa, Bavaro, Punta Cana, Playa Dominicus, Playa Minitas. Punta Cana is the more popular tourist destination in this region.

North Coast – Popular beaches in this area include: Cabarete, Playa Cofresi, Playa Dorada, Playa Grande, Playa Punta Rucia, Playa Sosua. Cabarete is the most popular resort area in this area.

North East Coast – There are many great beaches and resort in this area. Good choices include: Cayo Levantado, Las Terrenas, Playa Bonita, Playa Las Flechas, Playa Rincon.

South Central Coast – This section does not have as many beaches as the north and east but still offer several great choices. Beaches in this area are: Boca Chica, Playa Juan Dolio and Playa Guayacanes.

South West Coast – Playa Pedernales and San Rafael are the main beaches for this area.
