Cozumel Beaches and Points of Interest

Please note that most all beaches in cozumel are frequented by many vendors selling items including jewelry, handcrafts and trinkets. The vendors are steady and unrelenting so be prepared to just say no.

There are plenty of beaches in Cozumel to explore. The island is surrounded by beaches of various types including rocky, cobblestone and white sandy beaches. Almost all beaches offer some sort of snorkeling opportunities. Check with local guides to see what beaches are suitable for snorkeling and diving.

Hotel Zone – Many of the hotels in the main city are situated on beaches. These beaches are ideal for tourist to lounge around and take a relaxing swim. These beaches are protected from the larger waves on the west side of the island. The eastern beaches are ideal for family beach vacations and outings.

West side beaches – The beaches on the western side of the island are much more rough and rocky. Take special caution when going to these beaches as there can be strong waves with no life guards. These beaches are much less crowded and offer the tourist to have a beach all to themselves.
