Barbados Activities and AttractionsWater Activities – Barbados has numerous beaches that are ideal for snorkeling, playing in the water, scuba diving and beachcombing. Some beaches are better than other for each activity. The water is crystal clear and warm. Kayaking – there are several bays that offer tourist the best opportunity to kayak in calm waters. Parasailing – Parasailing is a popular tourist attraction. This activity can be arranges on most popular beaches. Eco Tours – There are several tour companies that will take tourists on Jeep or ATV tours. The tours sometimes include a barbecue lunch and will go to un-crowded beaches where participants can snorkel and swim. There are about 8 or so tour operators to choose from. Horseback Riding and Stables – Several vendors offer guided and non-guided horse back rides. These tours and rides are suitable for visitors of all ages and great for a family outing. Report any lost or stolen passports to the nearest Embassy. Driving – Drive on the left side of the road. There are not to many roads but make sure you drive on the left hand side and give right of way to the right. Money – the US dollar is widely accepted. The official currency is the Eastern Caribbean Dollar. Health – There is one main hospital on the island that has limited facilities. Any major injuries should be attended to in the US. Food and Water – It is best to drink bottled water when possible. Avoid drinking tap water and ice cubes unless the water systems in the hotel or restaurant use purified water. Safety – barbados is one of the safer Caribbean countries. Take the normal precautions about not leaving any valuables the car or hotel rooms. |
