Barbados Beaches and Points of InterestWest Coast Beaches – The west coast beaches are usually the calmest and best for swimming, snorkeling and scuba diving. The waves are usually smaller than the waves on the Atlantic side of the island. Waves and currents can get strong and rough on occasion. Water temperatures are warm all year long. South Coast Beaches – There are many find beaches on the south side of the island. They are ideal for body boarding, surfing and windsurfing. There are also a few secluded bays with calmer water good for snorkeling. The waves tend to be a bit more rough as the storms from the Atlantic can influence these. East and North Beaches – these beaches face the Atlantic and are subject to the powerful waves and currents. The waves are strong, rough and dangerous at times. There are nice beaches here but the water is not the best for snorkeling and swimming. |
