Aruba Airport and Transportation InformationThe Aruba Airport ( Reina Beatrix International Airport AUA ) is located a few miles south of the main city Oranjestad. Car rentals are available at the airport from the major rental agencies. Many major airlines have regularly scheduled flights to major US cities. Several European based airlines also have scheduled service. Most of the major activities and attractions are located around the hotel zone. Renting a car may not be required based on where the traveler wished to go. Rental cars are usually are older and have high mileage. There is taxi service available at the airport and hotel zones that tourists should consider. The bus system is adequate and travels to most destinations around the island. The price of bus services is very reasonable and can make for an interesting outing. Tips and Travel InformationTourists - Most tourists are from Venezuela and the southern parts of the US.Language - The primary language for the people of Aruba is called Papiamento. This language is a mix of many languages including Dutch, English, Portuguese, Spanish and some African terms. Many of the inhabitants also speak good English to communicate with the tourists. Drive on the right side of the road. There is no right turn on red as is allowed in some US states. Money – The US dollar is accepted everywhere at a good rate. There is not need to convert money into the local currency. Exit and Entry requirements – Passports are required for US and European visitors. Safety – Aruba is a safe place to visit.
