Antigua Beaches and Points of InterestAntigua has 365 beaches on the main island and many more on Barbuda. Each beach is unique and offers the tourist a different experience. Some of the beaches are harder to find and may require directions. Dickenson Bay and Runaway Bay – These two beaches are located on the northwest section of the island. These beaches have several large hotels that offer all the services and amenities. Fort James Beach – This is the closest beach to St. Johns. This beach is popular among the local inhabitants. Galley Bay – This area is popular for surfers during the winter months. Hawksbill Area – Another popular beach with several hotels. The beaches in this section of the island are a bit more rugged and less developed than the beaches to the north. They are typically less crowded and worth the visit. Fryes Bay, Darkwood Beach, Rendezvous Bay, Doigs Beach and Pigeon Point are the most popular beaches in this area. Half Moon Bay – This is a National park and perfect for family outings. Long Bay – has a reef that protects the bay from strong swells and ideal for younger family members. |
