Anguilla Airport and Transportation Information


The airport in Anguilla ( Wallblake Airport ASA ) is a small compared to other Caribbean airports. Most visitors either catch a connecting flight from Puerto Rico or fly into neighboring St. Martin and fly/take a ferry to Anguilla.

There are several airlines that also fly into Anguilla from neighboring islands like the US Virgin Islands, St. Martin and Antigua and Barbuda. There is a regular ferry service to St. Martin that runs every hour or so and takes 20 minutes.

Car and moped rentals are available on the island from the well known rental agencies. Taxis are available but make sure that the price is agreed upon before you leave. Anguilla is a tiny island and you can drive around the island in less than an hour depending on how many stop you make.

Anguilla Tips and Information

Language – All of the residents speak a form of English.

Exit and Entry requirements – US citizens must have a valid passport or other acceptable form of identification. Report any lost or stolen passports to the nearest Embassy.

Driving – Drive on the left side of the road. There are not to many roads but make sure you drive on the left hand side and give right of way to the right.

Money – the US dollar is widely accepted. The official currency is the Eastern Caribbean Dollar.

Health – There is one main hospital on the island that has limited facilities. Any major injuries should be attended to in the US.

Food and Water – It is best to drink bottled water when possible. Avoid drinking tap water and ice cubes unless the water systems in the hotel or restaurant use purified water.

Safety – Anguilla is one of the safer Caribbean countries. Take the normal precautions about not leaving any valuables the car or hotel rooms.
