Anguilla Beaches and Points of InterestAnguilla has over 33 beaches all around the island. Take a look at the map an you can see that the beaches are concentrated in the south western part of the island. This map only shows the 16 most common beaches tourist may want to visit. The other smaller beaches can be found with a little searching and exploration. These smaller beaches offer the visitor a peaceful and quite setting.The beaches in Anguilla are all white sandy beaches with crystal clear blue water. The most popular beach in Anguilla is probably Rendezvous Beach which is located in Rendezvous bay in the south west part of the island. This beach is crescent shaped with gentle clear water ideal for snorkeling and families. East Shoal Bay is located on the northern end of the island. It is 2 miles in length and has been voted the best beach by several magazines and programs. There is plenty of white sand for everybody. There is a reef that protects the sandy beach from the larger Atlantic Ocean waves. The waves tend to be a bit larger on the outside of the reef. There are several bars within easy walking distance and plenty of parking. Meads bay is a smaller beach on the opposite side of the island from Rendezvous bay. The beach is between two hotels and vacation luxury vacation rentals. This beach does not get the same amount of visitors as other beaches because of the larger waves. The waves can get big here and probably not the best for families. The scenery however is fantastic. The beach itself is about a mile long with a few amenities. On calm days however, the beach is peaceful and ideal for a little swimming and snorkeling. The beach at Sandy ground is a beautiful beach that also happens to be the main cargo harbor for the island. There is long pier that splits the middle of the beach where ships can dock. This particular beach has two sides. The one side faces the ocean and the other side faces the pond. Most of the fine restaurants in Anguilla are located here. The beach is filled with white sand and calm blue water. There are several watersport vendors here as well. Cove Bay is another fine beach located in the south western part of the island. This beach is near rendezvous bay but does not have the expensive hotels and vacation homes nearby. This is a more secluded beach but great for a day visit. There is plenty of snorkeling opportunities. Our last beach that is included in Crocus Bay. This beach is almost deserted. There are many days where you can have this beach all to yourself. This beach is located on the central part of the island on the north shore. The beach as hills behind it that can help protect the beach from the trade winds.
