anguilla beach resorts Anguilla is a small island just east of Puerto Rico. The main island is 16 miles long and 3 miles wide. There are many other smaller non-inhabited islands just off the coast. There are many exquisite white sandy beaches and bays that are un-crowded. Tourist can easily find a stretch of beach to call their own. The vegetation on the island ranges from scrub brush to desert. Anguilla receives on average 35 inches of rain per year. There are fewer clouds than in other Caribbean locations as there are no mountains or hills in which help contribute to the cloud cover.

There are thirty five hotels in Anguilla scattered all around the island. Many of the hotels are located near secluded bays. Hotels range in services from budget hotels to 5-star hotels that cater to the rich and famous. Many of the hotel properties offer villa rentals located right on the beach.

The main attraction of Anguilla is the beaches. The beaches are incredibly nice with water colors ranging from tourquise, deep blues and shimmering greens. The main island and surrounding islands are home to one of the best and least known reefs in the world. Scuba diving and snorkeling are popular activities. There is the option to swim with the dolphins and see local plants in gardens.

Anguilla is a British Overseas Territory. While it is not part of the United Kingdom, it is administered by England. The primary language is a local form of the King’s standard English. Tourists from North America and Europe make up the majority of visitors. The island has a population of about 13,600, most of witch are employed in the tourism industry.
