Acapulco Airport and Transportation

The main airport for Acapulco is Alverez International Airport ( ACA ). Acapulco airport is located just outside the city and offers scheduled daily service from all the major airlines to many cities. Once in the airport, take a taxi to your hotel. Make sure that you negotiate your price before you leave.



Acapulco has a good public transportation system. There a private taxis and public taxis. The white taxis are public taxis that are subsidized by the government. They cost about 10 pesos for each trip. The taxis are shared in that the drivers will pick up as many passengers as there are seats. The passengers are delivered on a first come first serve basis.

The private taxis can be hired for a reasonable fair but should be agreed upon first. It is always best to tip the taxi drivers a bit after a safe arrival at your destination.

There is also a complex bus system in place. Several classes of buss service exist. The bright yellow painted buses are primarily for tourists. They are air conditioned and offer the best service. Other bus services exists but are more for the locals to travel around.

Between the bus system and the taxi services, tourists can easily travel to most all of the destinations that Acapulco has to offer.
